PETIT P
Petit Bleu (1902)
by Eager (Family # 6d)
Petit Bleu was bred by Ludwig Neumann and raced in his colors. She was the winner of two races in eight starts as a two-year-old. Her wins were the Triennial Stakes at Ascot, where she defeated the debuting Polymelus by four lengths, and the Great Kingston Two-Year-Old Race at Sandown. As a three-year-old she won the New Biennial Stakes at Ascot, her only win in five starts.
As a broodmare, she produced 7 winners of 20 races, among them the influential mare, Blue Tit (1908) by Wildfowler. Among Blue Tit’s winners was Teresina who won stakes, and ran 3rd in both the Oaks Stakes (beaten a neck and a head), and the St Leger Stakes. She will go down in history as the dam of Alibhai.
The Classic winners descending from Petit Bleu are, Funny Cide, and Empire Maker, as well as Broodmare of the Year, Toussaud.
The racing proclivities of her descendants place her in the Stout category.

Sanfara (1903)
By Ingoldsby
Family 4m
There isn’t much information available regarding this mare’s racing exploits. She was the winner of the International, Whirlpool, and Ontario Handicaps, but that’s as much as I have been able to find out. Sanfara was bred by Charles W. Moore of Lexington, Kentucky, but I haven’t been able to discern whether she raced under that gentleman’s colors, or for someone else.
Her daughter, Virginia L (1917) by McGee, was a modest runner, winning 1 of 8 starts, but was an exceptional broodmare. She produced 12 foals, 11 runners, and 10 winners, with 4 Stakes winners, and 3 more who were Stakes placed. It is through Virginia L that most of Sanfara’s influence is felt.
The CCA Oaks winner, Revidere, and the sires, Boldnesian, and Cryptoclearance, all trace to Sanfara. The running tendencies of her descendants place her in the Classic category.
